Office:

Phones ringing, faxes coming in, people in the lobby, scheduling KIDZone, Compassion Ministry, maintenance, bookkeeping, helping the Eric’s and so much more, is the day in the life of Lea. I wouldn’t trade it for the world! To be used by God to help orchestrate this wonderful building and church body is a privilege I love and enjoy.

The biggest challenge I’m asking your help with is the communication within our church body.  Did you move? Have a baby? Get married? Need to reserve the church? Change email addresses? Etc. If so, please let me know. I want to be as efficient as possible for all of Cornerstone. I will be sending out 3rd quarter statements this week and want to have everything updated. Again, if you have any questions regarding your statements, please let me know A.S.A.P. Our records are audited every year by Wipfli Accounting Firm and open for your full review.

I have a personal prayer request. My sister-in-law and her family are trying to relocate to La Crosse. I’d love prayer for their house to sell, jobs to be found, and more importantly, that God will lead them into this wonderful body of believers. In addition, I would love prayer for my son Tyler. He is currently serving in the Air Force over in Afghanistan, and is in need of encouragement and prayer. Feel free to drop him a card, letter, goodie box, or whatever.

Finally, I would encourage all of us to search our hearts and be in prayer on how we can help bring our general fund income to a positive balance. We are currently behind

-$5,105.02 for this years budgeted income.

KIDZone:

KIDZone is doing well!  It is our hope and prayer that our children will learn their ABC's as they participate in KIDZone.  In nursery, we focus on the kids experiencing Community.  In preschool, we focus on the kids learning Biblical truth.  In the elementary room, we model A relationship with Jesus Christ.

KIDZone is busy in the next few months.  A multimedia was shown on 9/17 to honor current volunteers and recruit new volunteers.  We had training for our volunteers on 9/24 to maintain our high safety standards.  We will have a "Take One Parent to KIDZone" Day on 10/15 to show parents what we've been up to in KIDZone.  We will have the children participate in the Sunday morning service on 12/3 to celebrate all God did for us by sending His son to earth!  Whew!  That's exciting!

Please join us and make a difference in the lives our kids at Cornerstone!  We are in need of assistants in each room as KIDZone is growing!  Assistants serve once per month and help the teacher as needed.  God will use you as you serve Him in KIDZone and you will grow as you see the excitement in our children's faces to learn about Jesus!

The Core:

Cornerstone Community Churches Youth Group has a name change. It will now be called

517 Youth Group. Based from 2 Corn. 5:17.

It excites me a great bunch to share with you what God is doing with not only the youth of our church, but also the youth of our community. Beginning in the month of October 517 Youth Group will be starting a 1 year commitment to take our Thursday night experiences deeper and more intentional as we explore the power of outreach. Beginning on the first Thursday of every month we will take part in a small group session searching “Inwardly” the things of ourselves that make it hard to be a young Christ Follower.  The topics will range from “Why is it so hard to share my faith with friends that don’t believe? To things concerning media, television, clothing and much more. The Thursday following will be God’s response to those topics as we seek “Upwardly” through scriptures and prayers for God’s Promises and answers to our questions. The third Thursday of the month will be our attempt to take Gods teachings to an “outward” approach of how do we take these principles of Gods desired way for us to live our lives out and put them to action. The fourth Thursday of the month we will our fun and activity planning day for our outreach event that we will be doing the last Saturday of every month. This is where we will be teaming up with our life group to go into our community to give of our time and share the gospel message to the lost of our city. Our first location with be the Schuh Homes of La Crosse. We will be using their facility for the next year to make crafts, do projects, and to prepare Saturday school lessons for the 3-10 year old children of the neighborhood (basically a VBS for the day). This program will be duplicated by our life group just with a more adult twist.

Please keep us in your prayers and I hope that you will be as excited in their new venture as we are.

The Hospitality Ministry:

The ministry is going pretty slow on the course, but we are on course. My hardest test is getting people, but I am working on it. Please be praying for volunteers to come forward. We do have a praise to share. We have added Adam Hyer to the Greeter list, he is a great addition to the team. I am also in the process of setting up a meeting for the Hospitality Staff, in the next couple weeks.

Compassion Ministry:

The fall season always gets me excited about reaching out to people!  Our Oktoberfest Outreach is quickly approaching and we are beginning to put our plans for our second annual Compassion Ministry Banquet (Dec. 7th - mark your

calendars!) into full swing!  I love the energy boost that comes with new growth.  Ironically, that seems to happen spiritually for me in the fall.

Our compassion ministry continues to grow as well, with Shirley Lee now doing interviews with people on Mondays too.  Our official hours of opperation (receiving walk-ins) are Mondays and Thursdays from 10-2, but we are often here before and after that as well.  Shirley, I think, lives here!  I thank God often for her and the rest of my leadership team (Lisa Campbell, Ann & Scott Wales).  Together we are personally connecting with and helping close to 100 people each month - physically and spiritually.  Have you noticed them coming on Sundays?  Please help us make them feel welcome.  They are eager to experience Christ's love, and your sincere interest in their lives goes a long way in demonstrating that!

Volunteer opportunities:

We are looking for a few dedicated members to join our leadership team.  If you are intrested in implementing or supervising one of the following areas, please let us know: volunteers, donations, grant writing, churchwide communication, or the food pantry.

We are also looking for help from regular attenders or members with day to day duties such as emptying the donation box, switching summer clothes over to winter clothes, writing letters to prisoners, etc.  Also, as always, we are looking for any daytime help on Mondays and Thursdays to help us distribute food and clothing to the people Shirley, Lisa and I have interviewed.

Needs:

Men's and older boy's shoes - esp lg sizes Young girl's clothes (10-14)

Prayer Requests:

That those who accept Christ as their saviors when they meet with us during the week (and it's happening regularly - praise God!)will come on Sundays and get connected to the body of Christ.

That Ann and Karla would be able to begin a Women's Study in the jail in God's timing.

That a woman who was in jail 13 mos would come to Sunday services.

A young man who is back in jail and his daughter

It's coming!

The Christmas Banquet will be here soon.  Be watching for more details about how you and your life group can volunteer and adopt families and individuals from our community!

A summer stay-at-home missions trip is being planned.  Save some vacation to invest your time and talents in your very own community as we show Christ's love to LaCrosse.

Life Groups: Please continue to think about how your group can work together to live a lifestyle of compassion (one of our core values).  Just ask us for suggestions or a tour of the food pantry and clothing closet.

God bless you as you bless others!
